The Room

An evening people
talk about after.

Chef Sean Brock built Darling around two things: a fire in the kitchen and a wall of records in the lounge. Both of them belong to your party for the night.

01

A kitchen built on fire.

Heritage Southern cooking touched by California, cooked over live flame. Menus are written for your table: family-style feasts, plated courses, or passed bites at the bar.

02

Sound as the centerpiece.

Seven custom speakers, Tannoy monitors, an Accuphase amplifier, and a selector behind the decks. Set the mood of the room record by record, from dinner-hour soul to something the floor can move to.

03

A room that photographs.

Mural walls, mustard velvet booths, paper lanterns, and an olive tree under a skylight. Intimate at eight, cinematic at eighty.

The Private Dining Room

Behind the
velvet curtain.

Draw the curtain and the room is yours. A long table under vaulted timber ribs, a wall of split oak stacked to the ceiling, and a lit pantry of preserves and spices along the back. The fire that cooks your dinner is stacked in the room you eat it in.

The Spaces

Two ways to
book the space.

The full room at Darling: the communal table, the mustard booths along the mural wall, and the bar beyond

Full Restaurant Buyout

Every room for the whole night: the kitchen, the dining room, the bar, and the hi-fi listening lounge with it. Seated dinners, passed canapés, or a combination of the two. The format for wrap parties, premieres, weddings, label nights, and anything that wants the front door to be yours.

Up to 200 guests · 104 seated
From $15,000 (about $20,813 all in; $17,000 and about $23,588 on Saturdays)

The Spice Room

The private dining room, behind its own velvet curtain, for a seated dinner under vaulted timber ribs and a wall of split oak. The right size for board dinners, client entertaining, rehearsal dinners, and birthdays.

Up to 45 guests · seated dinners Wednesday to Saturday · Sunday brunch
From $4,000 (about $5,550 all in)

Included With A Full Buyout

A room built
for listening.

Alongside the dining room, under a retractable canopy, sits Darling's analog soul. A full buyout takes the lounge and the bar with it, which is why the room books for listening sessions, label nights and launches as readily as it does for dinner.

Seven custom speakers
Built for this room by DJ and speaker artisan MAXV.
Tannoy Super Gold Monitors
The pair set into the listening wall, horn-loaded and gold-faced.
Accuphase amplification
Driving the room with the headroom to stay clean at volume.
Swiss rotary mixer, Japanese cartridges
All-vinyl through the front end, with nothing digital in the path.

The result is the warmth and clarity audiophiles cross town for, in a room where dinner is served at the same time. Los Angeles Magazine named it one of the best hi-fi lounges in the city in Best of L.A. 2026.

The Menu

Build it one
tier at a time.

Pick a tier from any column. Most parties pair a bar package with passed bites, a family style dinner, or both. Every price is per guest, and Sean Brock's kitchen writes the menu around what California is growing that week.

$50 to $100 per guest

The Bar

Beer and wine at $50. One signature cocktail with beer, wine and well spirits at $75. Three signature cocktails with premium spirits at $100.

$50 to $100 per guest

Tray Passed

Three, five or seven passed bites, savory and sweet, from hushpuppies and prime beef skewers to fire-roasted oysters. On full buyouts.

$75 to $125 per guest

Family Style

Seasonal courses set down the middle of the table and passed hand to hand, from cornbread and country ham to wood-fired oysters and BBQ chicken.

How It Works

Three steps to
a booked night.

Price it.

Your headcount, date and menu below. The estimate updates as you go, gratuity, fees and tax included.

Book the date.

If the date is open, a $1,000 or $5,000 deposit books it on the spot (a Wednesday to Saturday buyout in the next few weeks is confirmed within 24 hours). Four days before, your menu locks, your price is set and the balance is charged, so there is nothing to pay on the night.

You host.

We set the menu, timing and music with you. On the night, our team handles the fire, the floor, the pours, and the records.

Reserve your evening

Questions

Before you ask.

What kinds of events does Darling host?

Corporate dinners and off-sites, client entertaining, wrap parties and premieres, birthdays and milestones, rehearsal dinners, holiday parties, and full buyouts. If it belongs around a table or a record player, it belongs here.

Which days are available?

Every evening. Wednesday through Saturday, the Spice Room or the whole restaurant. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings, when we have no dinner service, the whole restaurant as a full buyout from 5pm. The Spice Room also books online for Sunday brunch, 11am to 3pm: a family style brunch at $50 a guest, from $4,000 in food and drink (about $5,550 all in).

Is there a food and beverage minimum?

Yes. The food and drink minimum is $4,000 for the Spice Room (Wednesday to Saturday evenings, and Sunday brunch) and $15,000 for a full restaurant buyout ($17,000 on Saturdays). All in, with 25% service (a 20% gratuity to the team and a 5% administrative fee, which is not a gratuity) and 11% sales tax, that is about $5,550, $20,813 and $23,588. The builder never shows a price below it.

What counts toward the minimum?

Food and drink: the bar, passed bites and dinner, before the 20% gratuity, 5% administrative fee and sales tax. With the bar billed by the drink, drinks ordered on the night count toward it. If food and drink come to less, the difference is added to reach the minimum, and the gratuity, fee and tax apply to it too. Extra hours on a full buyout are $1,500 each, with no fees or tax, on top of the minimum.

What does it cost per guest?

Bar packages are $50, $75 or $100 per guest, tray passed bites $50, $75 or $100 for three, five or seven items (full buyouts only), and family style dinners $75, $100 or $125 (or a family style brunch at $50 on Sundays in the Spice Room). The estimate above adds it all up for your headcount, with gratuity, fees and tax.

How do we book our date?

With a deposit: $1,000 for the Spice Room or $5,000 for a full buyout, paid by card from this page. It counts toward your final bill. At 10am, 4 days before (7 days before if you pay by bank account), your menu and headcount lock, your price is set, and the balance (the price less the deposit) is charged. On the day, a hold of 20% of the price (up to $3,000; none for a bank account) covers anything added on the night, charged the morning after. The price set at the lock is the minimum for the evening. There is nothing to pay at the table. For Wednesday to Saturday full buyouts through the end of next month, your card is authorized, not charged, and the date is confirmed within 24 hours. Cancelling: 7 or more days out, everything paid is refunded; 3 to 6 days out, half the deposit is kept; under 3 days, the deposit is kept. Anything paid beyond the deposit is always refunded. Need another date? Ask 7 or more days out and we move your booking once, at no cost.

Can our company pay by bank transfer?

Yes. The deposit is paid by card on this page, and after that a bank transfer is available on your booking page. Paying by bank account, your menu and headcount lock and your price is set at 10am 7 days before instead of 4, and there is no card hold on the day. Reply to your confirmation with the company name for the invoice, and ask us for our W-9 if your accounts team needs one.

We are 12 or fewer. Do we need a private event?

No. For up to 12, a table in the main room books on Resy, with no room minimum. For 13 to 20, email events@darling.la with your date and time. If you would rather have the Spice Room to yourselves, the builder above prices it and books it.

Can we choose the music?

Yes. Every event comes with a selector behind the decks and an all-vinyl library to pull from, played through our hi-fi system. Tell us the mood you want and we will build the night around it, or bring your own records and we will play them. Live music or a performing DJ is not included, but can be arranged: ask us when you book. For speeches, we have a speaker and a wired microphone that plugs into the DJ board. Screens or other equipment can be brought in.

Can we bring flowers, decor or a photographer?

Yes. Tables are set with candles, and you are welcome to bring in florals, decor, signage and your own photographer. Mention anything you are sending ahead so we can receive it.

Where do guests park?

There is no valet at Darling. A parking lot is right nearby, and there are plenty of metered spots on the street outside the restaurant. For a larger event we can arrange valet through a company we work with, at an added cost based on the number of cars.

Is Darling accessible?

Yes. The restaurant is ADA compliant. Tell us about any guest who needs help and we will plan for them.

Is there a patio, and what if it rains?

Everything is indoors, so weather never changes your plans. The ceilings are high, daylight comes in through the roof, and a large olive tree stands at the center of the room, so it feels like being outside with all the comforts of being in.

Can you work around dietary restrictions?

Yes. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergy accommodations are built into the menu during planning, and every dish on your menu is marked gluten-free, dairy-free or vegan where it applies. With a week's notice the kitchen can accommodate virtually anything, from a vegan main to a course changed for a seafood allergy.

How far ahead should we book?

The sooner the better for December and awards season, which fill first. For everything else, a few weeks is usually enough. A week or less away: call (323) 203-0236. 18 months or more out, or over 200 guests: email events@darling.la.
